Nothing much to show today but the places I've been to looking for great dishes. The following photos are all borrowed online:
TABLESCAPING IDEAS:("Brain is so cool when she gets bursts of ideas!) Create a scrapbook of all your individual pattern of dishes and prized centerpiece collection and all the tablescapes you ever did. You can do this scrapbooking in your laptop using one of the many softwares available. During a rainy day, create a cozy nook, set a sidetable-scape for one. of fingerfoods and a drink, nice flowers on a vase, a lit candle and a throw on the chair. Get cozy and look over your scrapbook or album of your great finds and tablescapes. It's a guaranteed energy booster and rainy day blues buster!
Sidenote: In light of this economy, I have decided to refrain from dish hunting for a while. Unless it is Goodwill, Salvation Army or Free Cycle. I want to focus on enjoying all of my current dishes and discover my own creativity in stretching my imagination with what I have on hand. I take this "sacrifice" (smile) as a personal challenge. Because of all of your wonderful ideas and great pictures, I have managed to add to my collection more than I ever did the last twelve years. I thank you all so much for that...
The hunt is always fun. But also enjoying what you have and showing them off in a new way is also satisfying.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, Candy
GREAT ideas! I love the scrapbook idea. I do that with inspiration decorating photos. But to have one with projects you have done....ahhh the satisfaction!
ReplyDeleteAnd you KNOW I love the goodwill hunting.
See you tomorrow, friend! Have a great day!
buying dishes stimulates the economy....even if it is at a yard sale or thrift store...hope you keep hunting
ReplyDeleteYou are all so funny! But I do need to make sure that our wallets don't go hungry as well as our tummies! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou've got it backwards! Because of this economy the nation is DEPENDING ON YOU to shop, shop, shop. Thanks for sharing. Happy Outdoor Wednesday. Here's mine:

Hi Chandy,
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how blogland has opened up so many ideas for us all, I too had started increasing my dish collecting, but like you I am limiting it to goodwill and thrift stores. But it doesn't hurt to look though!! LOL
Thank you for stopping by and for leaving such a sweet comment, I would like to wish you and your family a very happy and blessed Easter.
Sue
What a wonderful blog. Just love it. I, too, am trying to use my old dishes and change them around in different ways. Goodwill is a good place to look for great deals though. Enjoy the hunt! Amy
ReplyDeleteHi Chandy-
ReplyDeleteYour shops are my favorite shops as well (except for Big Lots which we don't have here)!

Ladies, where do you think I got the idea to frequent these places? LOL We all seem to gather where all the great things are, huh?
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. I did get my dishes at Cracker Barrel. They were a little pricey but I just had to have them. I should do a tablescape for Thursday, but somehow I never get around to it.
ReplyDeleteThose are some of my favorite places to visit too. 5 blogs! Wow! I thought I had a bunch with 4. They are a blast aren't they?

ReplyDeleteHi Carolyn, you've changed your header! It's so lovely! That's a great idea for a scrapbook! Oh, Dear One, I'm having to agree with you! I've been going overboard with dish buying and it's got to stop! I've run out of places to put any more. I think I have more than enough to do! Thanks for the word.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Shelia, I am on the same boat... But I did already had in mind the bird s&p, so we were able to find some today, picked it up and got it off my list. Yay! I'm officially done!

ReplyDeleteGood for you, but how long will it last???LOL
I know how difficult it can be, so we'll see how well I hunker down with this decision... But then again, I was able to wait 3 years one time and 1 year another so we'll see... ;-)
ReplyDeleteChandy, I really like your blog. You come up with fun ideas and the most wonderful tablescapes.I love your header too. Goodwill shopping is lots of fun. Good luck and have fun finding some goodies.

ReplyDeleteChandy, thank you for posting on my blog. Guess what? My sister's name is Carolyn! That is weird how our families have so many names in common!

Hope you found the dishes!
ReplyDeleteSunnymama, I have found lots of great dishes from these places!
ReplyDeleteSheryl, we will just have to our families meet and have the people with similar names have conversations. LOL
