Newsflash! Newsflash!
The Target birds are back from their holiday and all over Blogland, tablescapers are finding them at their doorsteps waiting for Thursday to come for another fun on the table. My feather pair, Josh and Lily. Lily tends to be shy so you'll find her head normally down while Josh is very curious and gets Lily to go along with his ideas. They are a fun pair!
Last week, I found them on one of the chairs scheming to escape. I saw them get lost in the white of the tablecloth. When dh said they were gone, I knew that they didn't get far. I did not worry at all.
Well, imagine my surprise when I opened the door, and I actually found both of them outside with their food/bath basin on top of our bushes!
They flitted on to my LR window ledge and they said they came back from testing out all of the trees nearby and talking to their kin. I never would have thought that considering I've been admiring our feathered neighbors almost each day. They are better at camouflaging than I gave them credit for! :-)
Can you blame them for not going any further?
This is the first thing they saw when they got out!
Of course, they weren't about to just fly on in. They checked out my petunia pot, making sure the soil is good or maybe harboring a fat snack?
They also played hide-and-seek in the marigolds! I don't know what's up with Josh and Lily, but they certainly were making me work in getting them back inside!
So... I played a game myself. I went inside and closed the door! It didn't take long before I heard- "knock, knock, knock!" As expected, Josh looked like he was just enjoying himself while Lily looked "caught red-handed". ;-)
Once they were inside, Josh found himself on the fireplace ledge, at the Easter Lily pot and went for another round of "hide-and-seek" with the shy Lily. She did manage to sneak up on him since he was singing his heart out along with the Disney video playing on the TV.
After their adventure, I set out their basins and they took a much needed "chow-down". They are quick and thorough eaters!
Then they found the other birds in the house and chatted them up a bit about their "holiday". They didn't want to strain their necks much but their wings are tired so they just turned over their basins and used it as platforms to hear the lovebirds better up in their branch.
The love birds couldn't believe their ears! They were in awe of Josh and Lily's courage to venture out of their cozy home! In turn, they told the adventurous pair that another beautiful tablescape occured in their absence. Josh was not happy with the news, but Lily knew tablescapes will continue with or without them....
Josh just had to find out if this is true, so eyeing the other pair of birds in the house, he proceeded to take Lily and their basins, turned them upside down and asked if indeed, another tablescape was done during their vacation. The answer was a resounding yes!
Lily tried to let Josh know that it is ok, the more important thing is that they are home now and can be part of more tablescapes, like their kin all over Blogland. So after introducing themselves to one of the mini-bunnies, they asked if they can rest a bit, energize and be ready for another Tablescape Thursday, tomorrow... The bunny obliged and after a quick thank you exchange, the next sounds heard were "zzzzzzzz..."
Thank you Susan and Susan for hosting these fun memes. It was a great adventure to share what my birds did on their holiday and knowing that they loved me enough to come back... ;-)
TABLESCAPING IDEAS: ("Brain" says this is a reminder...) Since the birds are white, they can serve as a nice surprise to any table. And they really do love tablescaping so use them and create a "story" about them like our meme today to draw in your guests about your love of table decorating. A good item to find in miniature is an actual bird bath to accomodate both to show them off better.
I love your cute Josh and Lily!
